Update on Family and Freind Reunification In Canada
For months, Conservatives have been standing up for Canadians separated from their loved ones and calling on the Trudeau government to take a compassionate approach to reunite families, while ensuring the health and safety of Canadians.
On October 2nd, Government Canada put out a news release for New Travel Restrictions and Border Security Measures. Put into effect October 8th, here’s what we can tell you now:
IRCC is expanding who will be allowed to visit Canada to now include extended family, such as grandparents, siblings, grandchildren, and those in an exclusive dating relationship of one year. Foreign nationals may be eligible for compassionate reasons such as life-threatening illness, a close friend’s critical injury or death, with potential limited release from quarantine to spend time with a dying loved one.
These measures will help unite families and contribute to the quality of life for both Canadians and visitors.
